Carlton in the Community

Making a Difference

The Carlton Football Club understands the responsibility of assisting those who are less fortunate. An example of the support provided by Carlton and in particular the Carlton players.

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Each year one game between Carlton and Collingwood is played for the Peter Mac Cup. The purpose is to raise awareness and funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

As part of the lead up to the Peter Mac Cup match the Peter Mac Cup breakfast is held each year, featuring the coach and captain from each team.

Royal Children's Hospital

The Carlton Football Club supports the Royal Children’s Hospital through player visits, visits from patients to training at Visy Park and through an involvement in the annual Good Friday Appeal. In 2009 a group of 23 Carlton players visited the Royal Children’s Hospital on Good Friday while two other players went to the Channel Seven Appeal Centre at Docklands.

Challenge

Carlton is proud to support Challenge – supporting kids with cancer. The Club arranges visits by children to training sessions, including an annual Christmas BBQ at Visy Park for Challenge kids and their families. Challenge kids have also been involved on match day as the official Carlton mascot and to toss the coin thanks to the support of the Club’s joint major sponsor, Hyundai.

In May a young cancer patient was the guest of the Carlton Football Club on the Gold Coast for the match against Fremantle. The young boy, who is working with the Challenge program, and his family enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Gold Coast and spend time with the Carlton team.

Victorian Bushfire Appeal

The Carlton Football Club has been actively involved in the Victorian Bushfire Appeal during 2009. This support has included fundraising activities as well as player visits to a number of the bushfire affected areas and promotional support for activities being held in the areas. The Carlton players have confirmed their ongoing support to the bushfire victims and the areas devastated by the fires earlier this year.

Carlton assists other community programs and is proud to make a difference in the community.
