Kane Lucas continued to take significant steps in his development under new coach Mick Malthouse in 2013. After just eight senior games in 2012, the 22-year-old played 17 matches this season as a dashing wingman who also spent time as a crafty goal kicker up forward.

Lucas, known as “Sugar” around the Club, was Carlton’s first round draft pick in the 2009 National Draft (pick 12 overall). Although he did not play a part in Carlton’s finals campaign, the West Australian will almost certainly be a player to watch in 2014, as he looks to continue improving his consistency.
