It's only a few days until the team departs for Arizona and Carlton players are readying themselves for the freezing conditions.

Sam Rowe is better prepared than most, having faced the chill during last year's visit.

The 25-year-old, who recently re-signed with the Blues until the end of 2014, has also been taking time out to welcome the Club's new recruits.

We caught up with Rowe to find out what advice he would give to first-year players on their first trip to Flagstaff.

Have you managed to spend much time with our new recruits?
Sam (Docherty) has been training with us for the past week and a half now, so I've spent some time with him. I've also caught up with Patrick, Cameron and Nick over the past few days. Of course I'm also looking forward to meeting Ciaran, Casey, Luke, Blaine and Cameron – they’re all great additions to the Club and I'm really looking forward to kick-starting next year with them.

What memories do you have from your first day at Carlton?
I clearly remember walking into the Club for the first time. I remember feeling nervous and not really knowing what to expect.

If you were to give any advice to first year players, what would it be?
There is so much to learn in the first year. I would advise them to try and take in as much as they can.

The Arizona Training Camp is less than a week away, what are you most looking forward to about the trip?
I'm really looking forward to getting away with all the boys – it's always a good experience.

What are the top three essential items that you will be packing in your suitcase?
Definitely deodorant! I think I'm sharing a room with Cach (Jaryd Cachia), so I'll have to remember to bring earplugs. I'll also bring a beanie to combat the cold weather.

Who are you hoping NOT to sit next to during the flight there?
I think Rob Warnock… he's just too tall!
