Carlton will be without Andrejs Everitt for the next month after the 25-year-old injured his knee in Friday night’s win over North Melbourne.

Everitt twisted his knee as he landed awkwardly early in the second quarter of the match.

Football Operations Manager Andrew McKay says the prognosis could have been much worse.

“Obviously it’s a disappointing result that Andrejs has hurt his PCL, but luckily it’s not his anterior cruciate ligament and no surgery has to be done, which is great,” McKay said.

“We’re confident he’ll be back for the last couple of games for the year.”

Young gun Troy Menzel also left the ground with a knee injury in the same match, sparking fears he may have damaged the same knee he had LARS surgery on.

But McKay says Menzel has escaped serious damage.

"Troy just has bone bruising so we’re quite fortunate in that regard,” McKay said.

“We feared the worst initially, but all the scans were clear so we’re looking forward to Troy putting his hand up for selection against Fremantle.”

But luck wasn’t on the side of fellow Rising Star nominee Dylan Buckley, who suffered a hamstring strain in his first match back from a hand injury.

Buckley will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks but is expected to return for the last few games of the season.
