Carlton president Mark LoGiudice is confident the Blues will secure more home games at the MCG from next year.

LoGiudice has told The Age that Carlton is pushing to play as many as eight of the Club’s 11 home games at the MCG, following the expiry of a deal that was struck 10 years ago.

Talks remain underway but LoGiudice is optimistic.

Meanwhile, 2015 also looks set to hold a more favourable fixture for Blues fans.

The AFL has conceded that the Sunday night football experiment hasn’t worked and looks set to scrap the timeslot next season in favour of more Thursday night games.

Carlton has also put in a formal request to new AFL chief Gillon McLachlan to play in the season opener against Richmond next year.

When the two sides last met in Round 1 in 2013, the match drew a crowd of 80,971 to the MCG.

In contrast the Blues’ Round 1 match against Port Adelaide this year saw a turnout of just 24,640 to Etihad Stadium.
