It was game on as students from the Carlton Football Club’s affiliated school, Australian International Academy, took out their third consecutive Bachar Houli Cup.

Schools from across Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia took part, embracing the Cup’s philosophy surrounding religion and cultural diversity.

Played at the historic Punt Road Oval, it was tight match, with the Australian International Academy managing to win the game by just three points.

The Academy’s Most Valuable Player Ahmad Ahman said the achievement meant a lot to him and his teammates.

“It was great winning the Bachar Houli Cup for the third year,” Ahmad said.

“It is important for me as an AIA player that we uphold the reputation as the benchmark in the program.”

Meanwhile the Academy's Head of Sport Adam Nahal said the Bachar Houli Cup reinforces the importance of sport in education.

“Winning a flag three years in a row is an achievement beyond words,” Nahal said.

“To have such consistent success is truly a reflection of our sport programs at the school. The relationship between these facts, and the overall development of the students competing, cannot be overlooked."
