Carlton’s first selection in the upcoming AFL National Draft looks set to be pick 7, after the AFL’s allocation of compensation picks so far.

Recruiting manager Shane Rogers spent last week at the AFL’s Draft Combine, watching young hopefuls go through their paces at Etihad Stadium.

Rogers has so far conducted more than 170 interviews with draft prospects.

He said at this stage, the Blues intend to hold on to their first round selection.

“We haven’t ruled out our top pick being up for trade, but it would take a very special trade for us to do it,” Rogers said.

In terms of who the Blues might select, Rogers said there are certain “types" of players he has in mind.

“Certainly we’ve tossed around a few names – we’re obviously after some forwards and we’re after some genuine midfielders with outside speed who can kick the ball really well.

“I think we’ve got enough defenders and half-back flankers, but of course half-back flankers roll through the midfield as well."

Below is the indicative draft order, which is subject to change through the NAB AFL Trade Period.
