OVERVIEW
Tom Bell enjoyed a positive start to the 2014 season, earning a call-up for four of the Blues' first five games.

However the big-bodied midfielder suffered a setback, after fracturing his finger during the Round 5 clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Bell had surgery to repair the fracture, but it subsequently became infected and the 23-year-old was sidelined for seven weeks.

Not long after returning to the side in Round 16, the Bell re-signed with the Blues for an additional two years, keeping him at Visy Park until at least the end of 2016.

HE SAID IT?
"Over the next couple of years I just really want to find a regular spot in the team. I've sort of been in and out the past couple of years and I really want to cement a good position in the side that can hopefully take us to the top of the ladder."

- Tom Bell, speaking to AFL Media in July, 2014.

THEY SAID IT
?"Tom's a big-bodied midfielder with good leg speed who can really help out the likes of Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs in that midfield. Right now he's still in the developing stage. He was drafted as a rookie from Queensland and is a very raw footballer with some talent. But we're confident that Tom will play a really important role for us going forward, and I'm sure he's going to turn into a very good player. "

- Carlton’s GM-Football Operations Andrew McKay speaking after Tom Bell signed a two–year contract extension, keeping him at Carlton until at least the end of 2016.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT
Bell finished with 19 disposals, including 10 marks and a career-best four goals in Carlton's Round 20 win over the Gold Coast.
