With the upcoming 2015 season at the forefront of their minds, Carlton players are hard at work in the midst of their pre-season training campaign.

Carlton's Bryce Gibbs says that whilst it's been a hard slog, the long-term benefits will be rewarding.

"Yeah it's been pretty solid," said Gibbs.

"That's what it's all about this time of year – getting fit and getting the body ready to compete with all the teams.

"So all the boys are training well and training hard. The games can't come quick enough."

The 25-year-old enjoyed his most consistent season to date in 2014, as one of only three Carlton players to run out for all 22 games.

To top-off his outstanding season, Gibbs was awarded his first John Nicholls Medal as Carlton's Best and Fairest.

"It was definitely one of my more consistent years," Gibbs said.

"I've been trying to get the consistency in my game for the last couple of years. I really enjoyed Dean Laidly coming on board this year. I've worked closely with him in the midfield and he's taught me a few things, and I could probably give him a bit of that credit for helping me with that consistency."

After re-singing with the Blues for an additional five years, the midfielder was more recently named in Carlton's five-man leadership group for next season.

Gibbs says all the structures are being put in place for the Club to prosper in 2015.

"Not only me but as a team we're looking to improve," Gibbs said.

"We want to be back in the finals and playing at the pointy end of the season."
