It's been non-stop for Blaine Boekhorst since his arrival at Visy Park.

By his own admission, the 21-year-old named by the Blues with their first-round selection during the 2014 NAB AFL National Draft has described the first few weeks as "pretty flat-out".

"(We went) straight into all the testing," Boekhorst said.

"I'm settling in pretty good now, the boys have taken me in…it's been good to get out there and get a run with them."

Boekhorst, once a state volleyball champion, says his former sport has aided his transition into AFL.

"(It's assisted with) the ball handling kind of stuff," said Boekhorst.

"Especially jumping. You do a lot of jumping during volleyball training, so that helps with your marking."

The former Swan Districts player, who is now readying for the Blues' upcoming pre-season training camp at Mount Buller, says he remains focused on the upcoming season.

"(I want) to be here as long as possible and hopefully play Round One, to set myself up from there and make an impact," Boekhorst said.
