A week away from their pre-season training camp at Mount Buller, Carlton players are hard at work.

Amongst them is utility Sam Docherty. The 21-year-old is on the verge of his second season at the Blues, since being traded from Brisbane towards the end of 2013.

With just over 70-days remaining until the start of the season, Docherty said the team is game-focused.

"It's an important time for us coming back after the Christmas break,” Docherty said.

"The boys are in really good condition. We're getting into a lot of the game sim (simulation) stuff, which is really important for the boys to learn the game-plan and get that nailed down before our first practice match, which is in a few weeks."

Docherty, who played a total of 16 games for the Blues in 2014, said Carlton fans have a lot to look forward to in 2015.

"A lot of the boys have said Jonesy (Liam Jones) has been very impressive," Docherty said.

"(He) is just a breath of fresh air through the club – a big guy who takes some strong marks.

"Obviously having Daisy Thomas back on the track – he's looking really good. He hasn't missed a beat this year."
