Proud Carlton supporter Serge Romano has sponsored Michael Jamison since the No.40 made his debut in 2007.

Some eight seasons, plus a lot of sweat and hard work later, Jamison has honed his craft and become a general on the Blues’ backline.

As a player sponsor through Carlton’s Guernsey Club, Romano has got to know Jamison over the journey and says it has been a rewarding experience.

"To have seen Michael develop, not just as a footballer but as a person, has been fantastic,” Romano said.

"He's gone from strength to strength – and to know that I've somehow contributed to that makes it all the more worthwhile."

Jamison, who has played 131 games in the navy blue, was named Carlton's deputy vice-captain in 2014 and finished sixth overall in the 2014 John Nicholls Medal.

In the same year he confirmed his desire to play out his football career at Carlton, re-signing with the Blues for an additional three years.

Romano, who's Director of Leverage Sales Coaching Australia, says he’s proud to have played a part in helping Jamison achieve those milestones.

"To see him be a part of the leadership group and be the rock in Carlton's defence has made continuing to support him such an easy decision," Romano said.

"And knowing that my support goes toward providing Michael and his teammates access to the best possible facilities is also a great feeling."
