Milestone – Michael Malthouse

Carlton coach Michael Malthouse will coach his 715th game on Friday night, breaking Jock McHale’s record for the most games coached in VFL/AFL history.

Malthouse’s record includes 135 games with Footscray, 243 games with West Coast, 286 games with Collingwood and Friday marks 51 games for Carlton.

Everyone at the Carlton Football Club would like to extend our congratulations to Mick and his family on this remarkable achievement.

Debutant:

After arriving at Carlton from Greater Western Sydney in the 2014 Trade Period, Mark Whiley will play his first game for the Navy Blues.

Whiley has played impressive games for the Northern Blues in the VFL this season, catching the eye of senior selectors.

The lifelong Carlton supporter played 12 games over three seasons with GWS after being drafted in 2011 through NSW-ACT zone selection.

Carlton Ring of Honour Inductee – David ‘Swan’ McKay

Carlton’s four-time premiership player, David ‘Swan’ McKay will deliver the match ball to umpires before being inducted to the Carlton Ring of Honour on Friday night.

McKay was a star in the Blues line up for 12 years, playing 263 games between 1969 and 1981. He was instrumental in Carlton’s 44-point comeback in the 1970 Grand Final against Collingwood and for his efforts, the crowd favourite was judged best on ground in that famous Grand Final win.

The match raises awareness for prostate cancer and honours the memory of former Blues President Richard Pratt, who passed away from the disease in 2009.

Before the first bounce, there will be 32 seconds of applause to recognise and support the 32 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer everyday.

You can take a train, tram or bus to the MCG.

Trams No.75 (City-Vermont South), No.48 (City-North Balwyn) and No.70 (City-Wattle Park) stop within walking distance of the ground.

The Jolimont and Richmond train stations are within walking distance of the MCG. To get to Jolimont station take Hurstbridge or Epping line trains. To get to Richmond station from the city, take any train on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines.

The Bus route 246 is run by National Bus Company, which links La Trobe University with Elsternwick Station. The 246 stops on Punt Road.
