It will be a top of the upside-down-table clash when Carlton takes on Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues have just the one win on the board after defeating St Kilda in Wellington on ANZAC Day, while the Lions are still hunting their first win of the season.

Earlier this week, Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin said his team has done some soul-searching following a disappointing start to the year.

"Obviously our confidence has taken a hit and it's going to take some positive thinking to get that back," Martin said prior to training on Tuesday morning.

"We've got a good list, we've got good players and we showed that in patches last year.

"Something between the ears needs to change, and that can be changed luckily and that can change very quickly - more quickly than physical things can change."

The Lions will be without forward Brent Staker who has an injured hamstring, while captain Tom Rockliff is in doubt pending the results of a concussion test.

Carlton and the Lions have met on 44 occasions with the ledger in the Blues favour 27 games to 17. The last time they met was at the Gabba in Round 11, 2014, with Brisbane claiming a seven-point victory.

The Mother's Day match is set to mark the first time that former Blue Mitch Robinson faces his old team.
