#iknowsome1 – if you don’t know what this hashtag means, you soon will.

When Carlton battles Adelaide this Saturday at the MCG the Blues will be supporting The Jodi Lee Foundation, which raises awareness for early bowel cancer detection.

Although 90 per cent of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated, it’s estimated 17,000 Australians will be diagnosed this year alone. Bowel cancer is also Australia’s second biggest cancer killer, claiming 5,000 lives each year.

Nick Lee established the JLF in 2010 after his wife and mother of his two young children, Jodi, passed away from the disease at 41 years of age. Since then Nick has made the brave decision to tell his story to try to prevent others going through the same heartache.

For the third consecutive year the Carlton Football Club will partner with The Jodi Lee Foundation and encourage people to raise awareness by using the #iknowsome1 hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.

Blues ruckman Cameron Wood and forward Levi Casboult are ambassadors for the JLF, signing on after Nick Lee gave an inspirational talk at the Club last year.

On Tuesday morning, Nick Lee will once again speak to Carlton coaches, players and staff as part of the JLF’s Corporate Bowel Screening program, which urges everyone to take a simple test at home that could save their life.
