Carlton’s injury list could considerably shorten after the bye with four players in line for a return.

Vice-captain Bryce Gibbs has been out with a back injury while fellow vice-captain Michael Jamison has spent several weeks on the sidelines with an injured calf. Both players could be set to return for Carlton’s Round 12 clash with Port Adelaide at the MCG.

Dale Thomas and Ciaran Byrne will also be tested at training next week.

Thomas is recovering from a toe injury while Byrne has been sidelined with a hamstring strain since making his AFL debut in Round 3.

But the news is not good for ruckman Rob Warnock, who will miss the rest of the season.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay says Warnock is set to have surgery on his shoulder this week.

“Rob Warnock’s shoulder isn’t that flash,” McKay said.

“He subluxed a few times in the Geelong game and he has been trying to rehab that the last couple of weeks without much success.”

Meanwhile retired champion Chris Judd has been added to Carlton’s long-term injury list to allow the Blues to elevate a rookie if required.
