Carlton big man Matthew Kreuzer says while it’s been a tough road to recovery he’s rapt to be back playing football.
Kreuzer will line up for his second senior match this season when the Blues take on Port Adelaide at the MCG tomorrow.
The big No. 8 says despite his battle with a foot injury he’s managed to keep a positive attitude.
“The thing I’ve focused on is getting back to training as soon as possible and just getting into it,” Kreuzer told Adelaide’s Triple M.
“It’s one of those things in football, you do get injured, but I’m just looking forward to playing games now.”
Kreuzer revealed that while watching from the sidelines he saw the game through a different lens, and believes his team was lacking run earlier in the season.
He says the message from new coach John Barker has been to “take the game on” and Kreuzer believes it’s having a positive effect.
“Johnny Barker at the moment is doing a fantastic job,” Kreuzer said.
“With the players he is really backing us and really just letting us go and letting us play footy.
“He’s been great the past couple of weeks and we just have to keep building in the second part of the season.”
Meanwhile of Carlton’s opposition on Saturday Kreuzer is wary, believing the Blues will have their work cut out against the Power.
“Their midfielders are first class so we’re going to have to be switched on in there and ready to go, but it’s all around the ground,” he said.
“Robbie Gray can go forward and in the middle – and he’s a super player – so we’re going to have to watch a few of them.”
