Multicultural Festival:
The first ever AFL Multicultural Festival celebrating ‘Many Cultures, One Game’ will be held outside the MCG on Saturday 8 August from 11.30am – 5.30pm.

The festival will offer plenty of free activities, a variety of food stalls, the chance to meet AFL players and the Carlton v Collingwood game will be televised live on a big screen.

Peter Mac Cup
This Saturday marks the 23rd Peter Mac Cup clash between Collingwood and Carlton at the MCG.

The Peter Mac Cup raises awareness and funds for research at Melbourne’s Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to caring for people with cancer, cancer research and cancer education. All funds raised on the day will be going to this amazing cause.

Curtain Raiser:
Head to the MCG early on Saturday afternoon for your chance to catch the VFL curtain raiser between Collingwood and the Northern Blues. The match kicks off at 10.15am, so gates will open at the earlier time of 9.50am.

The match will also be broadcast on Seven (1 hour 45 min delay), making it the first VFL match televised from the MCG since the inception of the AFL.

Post-Match Social Club Function:
The post-match Social Club function is back. Straight after the siren head to the Yarra Park Room located on level 3 at the MCG.

Fresh off the field, all your favourite players will be there, including the captain Marc Murphy and big-man Matthew Kreuzer, along with coach John Barker.

Simply show your membership card at the door to receive free entry. Non-members and guests can enter half an hour after the final siren*, with entry costing $10.

(Yarra Park Room is located on Level 3, inside Gate 3. Take lift 9,10,11 up to Level 3. Members can access Gate 3 from inside the ground [without exiting] but not through the MCC. You can walk through the AFL members area if required as long as you show your membership card)

Public transport:
You can take a train, tram or bus to the MCG.

Trams No.75 (City-Vermont South), No.48 (City-North Balwyn) and No.70 (City-Wattle Park) stop within walking distance of the ground.

The Jolimont and Richmond train stations are within walking distance of the MCG. To get to Jolimont station take Hurstbridge or Epping line trains. To get to Richmond station from the city, take any train on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines.

The Bus route 246 is run by National Bus Company, which links La Trobe University with Elsternwick Station. The 246 stops on Punt Road.
