Carlton’s Ed Curnow has put pen to paper, recommitting to the Blues in a new two-year deal. The contract extension will see the speedy midfielder remain in navy blue until at least the end of 2017.

The No. 35 has played every game this season, averaging 21 disposals and five tackles.

After spending three years on Adelaide’s rookie list, Curnow was recruited to the Blues with their first selection (pick 18) in the Rookie Draft at the end of 2010.

Since arriving at Carlton, the 25-year-old has played 87 AFL games following his debut in Round 1, 2011 against Richmond.

Curnow became the first Blue in Carlton’s history to notch up 50 games as a rookie and at the end of 2013 he was elevated to the senior list. In that same year, he came fourth in Carlton’s Best and Fairest and was awarded Best Clubman.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay says Curnow’s a hard worker and his contract extension is well deserved.

“Curnow has made a huge contribution to our midfield this season and plays his role for the team week in, week out,” McKay said.

“We’re delighted he wants to stay at Ikon Park.”

Curnow joins Sam Docherty who also re-signed with the Blues earlier this year.
