OVERVIEW
In his third year as captain, Marc Murphy has led the Carlton Football Club by example. Amassing 510 disposals for the season, Murphy is ranked No. 1 at Carlton for total disposals, disposals per game (26.84) and kicks per game (15.32).

The midfielder played his 200th game for Carlton in Round 17, and although the Blues suffered a disappointing loss, the captain left nothing in the tank. He racked up 37 possessions, including 15 contested, and four clearances. Unfortunately the captain missed the final two games of the season with a shoulder injury, but after undergoing surgery he will be fully fit for the start of the pre-season.

HE SAID IT
"I love the footy club. It's a great honour having my name up there with some of the other guys who have played over 200 games. I've had a lot of ups and downs but I'm looking forward to trying to get some more ups over the next few years in my footy career and really enjoying my footy and driving this team forward."

THEY SAID IT
"Marc Murphy is an outstanding Carlton person. I can do nothing but congratulate him on such an outstanding achievement. His leadership over the last six or seven weeks, since I've taken over, has been outstanding. His want to drive this place to a better standard has been nothing but first class."

- Interim coach John Barker speaking about Murphy’s leadership ahead of Carlton’s Round 17 clash with Hawthorn.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT
Murphy was judged best afield and was awarded the inaugural Crowl-McDonald Medal in Carlton’s victory over the Saints in New Zealand on ANZAC Day. His 34 disposals and 10 clearances played a key part in securing Carlton its first win of the season.
