OVERVIEW

After playing all 22 games in 2014, it’s fair to say this year has been quite the opposite for Bryce Gibbs. Back stiffness followed by a season-ending pectoral injury in Round 15 against the Tigers, limited Gibbs to 10 games for the season.

One of the highlights of Gibbs’ 10 games came in Round 4 v St Kilda. The midfielder racked up 23 disposals and kicked two goals to help the Blues get over the line in Wellington on ANZAC Day.

Meanwhile Gibbs hit the headlines in Round 12 for a controversial tackle on Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray. The tackle resulted in a two-match sanction, sparking debate within AFL circles over the sling-tackle.

HE SAID IT

- Gibbs tweeted this cheeky remark after Port Adelaide’s Jay Schulz was not suspended for his sling tackle on Sydney’s Ted Richards.

Sam Colquhoun: @BGibbsy4 two actions pal

- Young Port Adelaide player Sam Colquhoun hit back with this tweet, trying to defend his teammate, which backfired days later.

HE GOT THE LAST LAUGH

- Gibbs couldn’t resist tweeting back at the inexperienced Port player when he was sent back the SANFL the following week.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

During Carlton’s Round 2 match against the West Coast Eagles Gibbs led from the front, amassing 26 disposals and laying 12 tackles in a disappointing loss for the Blues.
