Carlton’s recruiting team has spent the day locked in talks with rival clubs, as day one of the AFL’s Trade Period played out at Etihad Stadium.

Carlton’s GM – List Management & Strategy Stephen Silvagni says he planned to spend the day sounding out a number of deals, including the possible recruitment of some Giants.

“We’ve had discussions about Lachie Plowman and (Andrew) Phillips so we’ll speak with the Giants again and see what happens from there,” Silvagni said.

At least two Carlton players are expected to be on the move with Lachie Henderson and Chris Yarran indicating they would like a start elsewhere.

Silvagni has indicated the Blues will hold firm in asking for a first round draft pick in return.

“Obviously Chris is a contracted player for us. We know he’s an exceptional player and we’re looking for an early pick there,” Silvagni said.

“If we can’t get that done, well obviously he’s still got a year left on his contract.”

The biggest name on the move today was restricted free agent Patrick Dangerfield, who has been traded from Adelaide to Geelong.

In exchange the Crows will receive draft picks 9 and 28, as well as young South Australian onballer Dean Gore.
