One of Carlton’s newest recruits, former Crow Matthew Wright, says he “couldn’t be happier” to call Ikon Park home in 2016.

The small forward played 94 games for the Crows over six seasons and booted an impressive 63 goals.

Speaking to Adelaide radio station FIVEaa on Thursday, Wright said he was hopeful of being picked up by the Blues.

“I met with the Carlton football Club a few weeks ago and they were pretty keen for me to come on board and I felt the same,” Wright said.

“We needed a few situations to play out and fortunately enough I landed there today and I couldn’t be happier.”

The recently married 25-year-old will provide Carlton with valuable experience and leadership qualities.

Wright says there’s no hard feeling towards the Adelaide Football Club and now he’s just “looking forward” to joining Carlton.

“It’s a pretty different looking Carlton Footy Club this year, obviously with the five picks in the draft – four in the top 20 – and obviously they traded in a few other new faces from other clubs including Sam Kerridge, so it’s an exciting time.

“I’m looking forward to getting over there and getting stuck into it.”
