One of Carlton’s most experienced players, Kade Simpson, feels like he’s gone back to school – and he’s studying hard.

Heading into his 14th season, the 31-year-old said Blues coach Brendon Bolton’s experience as a teacher is paying dividends.

“What you see is exactly how he is, he’s very up and about, positive and his real strength is his teaching background – he really tries to teach the players the way he wants them to play, Simpson told 3AW.

“We’re putting in a fair few hours at the moment because we don’t just have a new senior coach, we’ve got new coaches all across the line.”

With a host of new faces across the Club, new drills, structures and terminology are all part of the new blue curriculum.

“Our attack, defense and midfield structures are all going to be mixed up and the boys are now putting in the hard yards to get their heads around it and put it into place.

“Even as one of the older guys it’s all new to me as well, we’re all like first-year players, back to school and studying pretty hard.”

The entire playing group heads to the Gold Coast next week for their pre-season camp – the schooling continues!
