Carlton’s Sam Kerridge says he has loved singing the Blues’ iconic theme song two weeks in a row, noting it’s “a great reward for the hard work the boys have put in”.

For the first time since the middle of last year, Carlton recorded back-to-back victories, defeating Fremantle and then Essendon.

Not wanting to single out any players, Kerridge praised the team for the even spread of contributors on Sunday.

“To the boys’ credit we had 22 contributors on the weekend, and to win games of footy you need that,” Kerridge told Sportsday on Monday.

“Everyone really stepped up and played their role, we’re going to need that week in week out if we want to come away with the results that we want.”

Kerridge, who had 19 disposals and four tackles against Essendon, says he’s wanted to “prove a point” since arriving at the Club from Adelaide.

“I wanted to come in and set the standard, try really hard, work on what I needed to, and put my head down and bum up,” he said.

“It’s something I’ve strived to do anyway, but I’ve always been taught you don’t get a second chance to make a good first impression.”

Kerridge, who is averaging over 23 disposals per game this season, has definitely made a positive impression on the Club.

He’ll be looking to continue his good form into this weekend’s match, as the Blues prepare to take on another traditional rival: Collingwood at the MCG.

“We’ve obviously had a good win on the weekend, but we’ve moved on now and we’re really looking forward to the challenge on Saturday afternoon – it will be exciting.”

Carlton takes on Collingwood this Saturday afternoon at the MCG, with the match kicking off at 1:45pm.
