Before they battle it out on the footy field this Saturday, Carlton and Collingwood came together for a good cause on Thursday morning.

Blues coach Brendon Bolton and skipper Marc Murphy, were joined by Pies CEO Gary Pert and director of football Neil Balme, at the 14th annual Peter Mac Cup Breakfast.

The Breakfast, held at the members’ dining room at the MCG, raises vital funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and always takes place in the week leading up to the big clash for the Peter Mac Cup.

Now in its 24th year, the match also raises important funds and awareness, supporting Peter Mac’s research in finding better treatments and cures for cancer.

Each year 120,000 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer, accounting for 30 per cent of all male deaths and 25 per cent of female deaths. More than 500 cancer researchers at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre are focused on preventing, treating and finding cures for cancer.

So, if you see tin rattlers on the concourse at the game, make sure to pop in your loose change.
