Carlton defender Zach Tuohy insists the Blues are remaining focused on what they can control as they prepare to face the second-placed Geelong at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Both the Blues and Cats will be looking to rebound after losses to North Melbourne and Collingwood respectively, with Tuohy confident the learnings from last week will hold his side in good stead.

“We’ve got a lot of areas of our game to address.” Tuohy told SEN on Friday.

“I think that’s more of a concern than necessarily looking at Geelong.“

The Irishman acknowledged his team’s skills and specifically hitting targets inside forward 50 as areas the Blues have focused on this week.

“We haven’t had connection with forwards so we’ve addressed that,” he said.

“Hopefully you’ll see a more slick, cleaner Carlton this week.“

To the disbelief of the footy world, Carlton could be bolstered by the return of Matthew Kreuzer and Levi Casboult.

The big men have been sidelined since the Round 8 match against Port Adelaide where they both suffered injuries.

Kreuzer (torn meniscus) was initially listed as a three-to-four-week proposition, while Casboult was expected to miss between six to eight weeks with a fractured tibia, which was this week downgraded to a depression in his tibia after a more recent scan.

Tuohy admitted the playing group had been surprised by the possibility of the key pair’s return, but echoed coach Brendon Bolton’s words that they’d have to pass fitness tests over the next 48 hours.

“The two boys (Casboult and Kreuzer) have recovered better than we expected,” Tuohy said.

"They look like they’re not too far off … So they’ll be given every chance to get up this week.

“Footy’s a pretty cruel game and a lot of the time it doesn’t work out in your favour, so when things like this (quicker-than-expected recoveries) happen, we’ll certainly take it.”
