Charlie Curnow returned to football this morning after a lengthy spell out via the Northern Blues Development side.

Curnow, who has had glandular fever in the past few months, played his first game since Round 5 of the AFL season and got through his allotted game time.

Playing up forward in a team which had been well-beaten until half-time, Curnow said he was feeling “really good” immediately after his time on the ground.

“It’s always good to get the first one out of the way. It was good fun with the boys, I haven’t played with these lads before,” Curnow said.

“It was my first official game and I’m just glad to get some minutes on the board.”

Curnow was scheduled to make his return last weekend in the Development League, but a minor ankle knock delayed his return until this morning.

While admitting the slight delay was frustrating, Curnow said he was looking forward to the next couple of weeks where he was looking to get more game time under his belt.

“It was pretty annoying with the ankle last week but that’s all good now and to be back playing now after a bit of time out is a relief,” Curnow said.

“All the boys got around me and were very easy to get along with, which made things easier too.

“I’ll hopefully get a few more minutes next week, I’m just taking it one week at a time.”

The Northern Blues Development side was down by 43 points against an efficient Box Hill at half-time.
