Northern Blues coach John Fraser rates the performances of the Carlton-listed players who featured in the six-point win over Footscray:

60. David Cuningham
Stats: 12 disposals, 3 clearances, 3 tackles
From the coach: He keeps showing some good signs around the ball and with his running patterns away from stoppage. He’s heading in the right direction and will continue to progress as he builds form and fitness.

26. Matthew Dick
Stats: 24 disposals, 7 marks, 3 inside 50s
From the coach: It was another solid performance as part of back seven from Matty, as he defended well and led from the front in some important contests. He used the ball better this week and made better decisions which was pleasing.

20. Andrejs Everitt
Stats: 20 disposals, 11 marks, 3 inside 50s
From the coach:
‘Dre’ worked really hard to run aggressive patterns and showed some really good examples of being able to impact critical contests going back with the flight. He led from the front with his voice.

31. Jayden Foster
Stats: 13 disposals, 8 marks
From the coach:
It was again another solid performance from ‘Foz’: he defended well for the most part and got more involved offensively, but more importantly stuck to his task all day as a defender.

34. Jesse Glass-McCasker
Stats: 10 disposals
From the coach:
Showed some really good signs, where on a few occasions he backed himself in more to compete in the contest and provide some run and rebound. He keeps developing and showed some really good improvement.

18. Daniel Gorringe
Stats: 15 disposals, 4 marks, 6 handball receives
From the coach:
Again, I thought he worked really hard in a variety of roles, particularly in his ability to cover the ground well. He gave us a versatile look forward of ball and was able to generate a few shots on goal.

38. Billy Gowers
Stats: 19 disposals, 7 marks, 9 handball receives
From the coach:
It was more of the same from Billy, who defended well again, used the ball well again while breaking the lines which was exciting. He keeps improving each week.

48. Kristian Jaksch
Stats: 14 disposals, 7 marks (4 inside 50s), 2 goals
From the coach:
‘KJ’ provided us with a dangerous target forward of centre, and particularly worked hard in tandem with Liam Jones and Harry McKay to present, finishing with seven marks and a few of those being contested sums it up.

14. Liam Jones
Stats: 13 disposals, 9 marks (5 contested), 3 goals
From the coach:
He was arguably our best player - if he didn’t win the ball he halved plenty of contests. Liam worked really to provide a target up the ground and work back hard while hitting scoreboard. He provided great leadership and his effort was really noticeable.

80. Matthew Korcheck
Stats: 1 disposal, 1 contested mark, 1 goal, 18 hitouts
From the coach:
It was a bit of a quiet day from Korcheck but he produced a really important moment late in the game with a big mark and goal. It was a really good example of staying in the contest and taking opportunity so it was another step in his development.

51. Jed Lamb
Stats: 16 disposals, 6 marks, 4 inside 50s, 4 tackles
From the coach:
Jed started the game heavily involved offensively, and was used in a couple of different roles. With it being his first game at the level in quite some time, he adjusted well and will build from here.

19. Harry McKay
Stats: 11 disposals, 5 marks (3 inside 50), 3 goals
From the coach:
We were pretty excited again with how he worked with Jaksch and Jones forward of the ball. He presented well at the leg and competed on some high balls while getting some shots on goal. He’s building confidence all the time.

67. Clem Smith
Stats: 5 disposals
From the coach:
He has some really good moments where he’s working hard and about to impact the game, so he needs to keep refining method to stay in moment and impact the contest more, either with ball in hand or relentless tackle pressure.

76. Jason Tutt
Stats: 28 disposals, 12 marks, 8 handball receives
From the coach:
He ran really hard and accumulated a lot of ball, while also having some good contested ball moments either through tackle pressure and marks in contested situations. He came back and performed well.

65. Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
Stats: 13 disposals, 3 marks, 8 handball receives
From the coach:
Dillonhad some moments early in the game that he wouldn’t have been happy with, but to his credit he stuck to the task and put in some solid moments from there. He had some important plays when the game became tighter.

42. Mark Whiley

36. Cameron Wood
Stats: 4 disposals, 24 hitouts
From the coach:
I think in conjunction with Korcheck, ‘Woody’ gave our mids a good look around stoppages, got out on spread and was able to wear Minson down as the game went on. A fairly solid game from Cam.
