Captain Marc Murphy could be set to line up for the Blues this Sunday against Melbourne at the MCG.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined for an extended period of time this season with a syndesmosis injury but could be in the frame to return this weekend.

Head of Football Andrew McKay said Murphy would undergo fitness tests this week to determine his availability for selection.

“He is back to full training and will be in full training again this week,” McKay said.

“He will have a test this week to see whether we can get him up to play a really important game for us against Melbourne on Sunday.”

Midfielder Patrick Cripps sustained bone bruising after copping a knock to the knee during the second quarter of the Blues’ loss to Brisbane.

“He got a whack on the side of his knee against Brisbane on the weekend,” McKay said.

“It was just a bit of bone bruising which can be quite sore, so he’ll test later this week but we’re confident he will be fine (to play against Melbourne)."

Jed Lamb and Daniel Gorringe have both been ruled out for the remaining two games of the season, with Lamb having a recent procedure on his troublesome knee.

“Jed was having some trouble over the past couple of weeks with cartilage behind his knee cap,” McKay told Carlton Media.

“He went in (for surgery) late last week and got that area cleaned up. We persisted for a while with that one to see whether we could get him through to the end of the year but it was too irritating for him… so we thought it was best to get it fixed up."

The Blues turn their focus to Sunday’s clash against Melbourne in their final remaining home game for the season at the MCG.
