With the AFL Trade Period now officially underway, Carlton’s GM of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says the Club will go into the next fortnight with an open mind.

Silvagni has revealed that the Blues are set to be "relatively" active over the next two weeks across the trade period.

“We know where we are at as a football club, and we certainly know where our list is at,” Silvagni said.

“There’s obviously a lot of rumour and speculation out there at this time of year, but I think we’ll be relatively active in terms of what we want to do."

Last month, GWS defender Caleb Marchbank nominated Carlton as his preferred destination ahead of the trade period, and Silvagni said the two clubs would work closely to ensure a sufficient deal could be resolved.

“We were delighted Caleb nominated us as his preferred club, so we’re fairly confident we can work in with GWS to get a deal done there,” he said.

“Essentially, we want to bring in really good players to this football club, that will not only fit into our culture, but also hopefully be part of our next premiership team.”

Silvagni also said his list management team would look to shape their focus on recruiting players under a specific age bracket at the upcoming national draft in November.

“From what we did last year, we were able to bring in a number of 18-year-olds, but also a number of players under that 23-year-age group.

“So we need to keep building our depth, but we’ll also go to the upcoming draft and pick the best player available.”
