Blues ruckman Daniel Gorringe will be available for Round 1 selection, after scans confirmed no major damage to his achilles tendon.

The 25-year-old came off the field in third quarter against Melbourne in the Blues’ first JLT Community Series hit-out after experiencing soreness in his left achilles.

Head of Football Andrew McKay said the ruckman would be available for selection for the final JLT Community Series game against Fremantle in Perth.

“Daniel was rested in the first half of the JLT game against Melbourne, and then unfortunately stirred up his achilles in the third quarter. Given his history with this type of injury, we were cautious but the good news is he will only be sidelined for one week,” McKay said.

“He will miss this week’s game against St Kilda, but we’re confident he’ll be available of selection for the final pre-season game against Fremantle.”

The Blues face St Kilda in a double-header with the AFLW side at Ikon Park on Saturday. Entry to the double header is ticketed, while members can access the games free of charge, subject to capacity.
