MILESTONE: PATRICK CRIPPS

Carlton young gun Patrick Cripps will line up for his 50th AFL game on Saturday afternoon when the Blues take on the Swans at the MCG.

After being recruited to Carlton with a first-round selection (13) in the 2013 National Draft, Cripps made his AFL debut in Round 4, 2014 against Melbourne.

Following a stellar breakout season in 2015, the West Australian was awarded the John Nicholls Medal and placed second in the 2015 NAB AFL Rising Star.

The brute strength of the 22-year-old has seen him recognised as one of the competition’s powerhouses after 49 games across four seasons in the navy blue.

DEBUTANT: ALEX SILVAGNI

After being recruited to Carlton during last year’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft, experienced defender Alex Silvagni will take to the field for the first time in Carlton colours when the Blues face the Swans on Saturday.

The former Docker made his AFL debut in Round 1, 2010 against Adelaide and went on to play 53 games over seven seasons at Fremantle.

The experienced defender featured in one of Carlton’s pre-season matches this year and is set to bring on-field leadership and strength to the Blues’ line-up.

LAP OF HONOUR: CARLTON AFLW TEAM

Following Carlton’s AFLW Best and Fairest on Thursday 27 April, Carlton’s AFLW team will do a lap of honour on the MCG prior to the Blues’ clash with the Swans.

RING OF HONOUR:

The Carlton Football Club’s inaugural AFLW Best and Fairest winner Brianna Davey will ring the historic old Blue bell at the top of Carlton’s race 15 minutes prior to the first bounce, before being inducted into the Carlton Ring of Honour on Saturday afternoon.

Across six games in the 2017 season, the star defender averaged 19 disposals, nine kicks and 10 handballs. The cross-code utility hailed from a soccer background as a goalkeeper for the Matilda’s national squad, before signing with the Blues as a marquee player in 2016.

POST-MATCH FUNCTION:

Carlton members and supporters are invited to a post-match function following the Blues’ battle with the Swans.

The function will be held at the Pullman Hotel across from the MCG, after the final siren.

With entry free for Carlton members and only $10 for non-members, it will be the perfect opportunity for Bluebaggers to mingle with the team.
