GRUELLING bike rides and hikes, team-bonding exercises and challenging quizzes – our new draftees were physically and mentally tested on their recent two-day camp.

Keeping with tradition, the Club’s draftees – Paddy Dow, Lochie O’Brien, Tom De Koning, Angus Schumacher and Jarrod Garlett – travelled to the homeland of senior coach Brendon Bolton, spending two cold nights on Bruny Island in Tasmania.

The five draftees were accompanied by Indigenous players Sam Petrevski-Seton, Kym LeBois and Jarrod Pickett, as well as Irishman Cillian McDaid.

Swimming, footy drills, boating and boxing were also key activities scheduled throughout the two days, with development coaches Shane Watson, Brent Stanton and Jason Davenport on hand to help.

The Club would like to thank the many volunteers in Tasmania who helped make the camp possible.

Footage from this year’s camp will be released in 2018, as part of Club’s documentary series, The Journey.
