CARLTON will kick things off against the Southern Saints in 2018 after the announcement of the Swisse VFL Women’s fixture.

In their inaugural game, the Blues will head to Skybus Stadium (Frankston Oval) from 11:15am on Saturday, May 5.

Five of Carlton’s seven home games will be played at Preston City Oval, while the games with Melbourne Uni (Round 8) and Richmond (Round 12) will be held at Ikon Park.

In exciting news, half of the VFLW games will be double-headers alongside the Northern Blues VFL side, including the opening game against the Saints.

The marquee event will be on Sunday, June 24, when the Blues meet the old enemy from Collingwood in three games throughout the day in the VFL, AFL and VFLW competitions respectively.

Carlton will have double-up fixtures against the Pies as well as the Darebin Falcons, before finishing the year against Essendon at Windy Hill.

The Blues will play 14 games in the 16-round season as one of a number of newcomers in the revamped competition.

The byes will come in Rounds 9 and 14, as well as a competition-wide bye on Queen’s Birthday weekend.

Other features of the landmark fixture include:

  • A first home game against the Western Bulldogs in Round 2 on Mother’s Day
  • A VFLW-VFL double-header against the Hawks the following week at Box Hill City Oval
