As the second season of the AFLW comes to a close this weekend, many players across the league will be recognised for their consistent and standout performances in 2018.

On Wednesday afternoon, the nominees for the AFLW Players’ MVP Awards were announced, with five Blues vying for various titles.

Defender Danielle Hardiman, midfielder Katie Loynes and ruck Breann Moody are all up for the main MVP Award, while code-hopper Maddison Gay is in the running for the Best First Year Player Award.

With an elite netball background, Gay arrived at the Club as a rookie last year, and was quickly upgraded to the senior list after showing plenty of potential.

Tough-as-nails midfielder Katie Loynes, who most weekends ended up with stiches and a head bandage, has also been nominated for the Most Courageous Award.

Winners will be announced on Monday 26 March at the Stokehouse in Melbourne.
