MIDFIELDER Patrick Cripps has received the maximum number of votes from opposing coaches for his performance in the season-opener against Richmond.

Amassing a game-high 36 disposals and 25 contested possessions, the 23-year-old was deemed best afield by Carlton coach Brendon Bolton and his counterpart Damien Hardwick, earning a maximum of 10 votes in the 2018 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

Four players - Cripps, Lance Franklin, Tom Mitchell and Jack Steven - received maximum votes for Round 1.

Carlton’s Kade Simpson earned six votes, after contributing 35 disposals and 21 uncontested possessions against the reigning premiers.

Forward Charlie Curnow also got a nod from coaches, receiving two votes. He tied with Matthew Wright for a match-high five goals against the Tigers.
