NEW Carlton recruit Darcy Lang will make his long-awaited debut in Saturday's clash against Essendon at the MCG.

The goalkicking midfielder, who played 44 games with Geelong before arriving at Ikon Park in the 2017 trade period, earned selection after two impressive VFL performances since overcoming an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old joins Charlie Curnow and Jed Lamb as the Blues' inclusions, while Levi Casboult (injured), Matthew Kennedy (omitted) and Andrew Phillips (omitted) make way.

Meanwhile, Essendon has lost Joe Daniher and Andrew McGrath to injury, welcoming back forwards Shaun McKernan and Orazio Fantasia.

Carlton and Essendon will go head-to-head on Saturday in the traditional 2:10pm timeslot.

It's not too late to be there as a Blues member, with three-game memberships available for as little as $97.

The match will also acknowledge the 50-year anniversary of Carlton's 1968 Grand Final win over Essendon, while Hyundai is giving away 2000 Marc Murphy bobbleheads before the game (more info here).
