CARLTON'S VFLW team played an impressive match against the Bulldogs on Sunday, walking away 46-point winners at RAMS Arena.

VFLW senior coach Shannon McFerran assesses a combination of the Blues’ AFLW and VFLW-listed players from the Round 2 clash.

AFLW

Reni Hicks
Stats: 5 disposals, 4 kicks
From the coach: Reni’s attack on the football is fantastic. Her ability to read the play and navigate through traffic shouldn’t be underestimated. Reni will play a number of roles throughout the season for the team.

Jess Hosking
Stats: 13 disposals, 2 goals
From the coach: Jess was strong around the contest and impacted the game at stoppages. She pushed forward at times and was rewarded on the scoreboard.

Sophie Li
Stats: 22 disposals, 1 goal
From the coach: Soph continues to be a dominant force in the midfield. She extracts the ball so well and gives the outside runners a good look at it. Hitting the scoreboard is a bonus and reward for effort.

Kate Shierlaw
Stats: 13 disposals, 2 goals
From the coach: Kate showed some great signs in her first VFLW game for the season. She found plenty of the football up forward and finished off her hard work hitting the scoreboard.

VFLW

Jorja Borg
Stats: 4 disposals, 2 tackles
From the coach: Jorja is a fantastic athlete. A raw talent, Jorja spent time down back, which is a different role for her. Jorja’s ability to listen and close down her opponent is a good sign for her footy career.

Kristi Harvey
Stats: 16 disposals, 5 marks
From the coach: Kristi spent some time down back and forward this week. Her versatility will be important to the team as we continue to develop as a group.

Courtney Bromage
Stats: 11 disposals, 4 marks
From the Coach: Court was instrumental up forward. Her attack at the football was rewarded with some great contested marks. Her courage is unquestionable and we look forward to seeing her develop throughout the season.

Brooke Walker
Stats: 13 disposals, 8 kicks
From the coach: In her second game of footy, Brooke was able to consolidate on her performance from last week. An exciting player when the ball is in her hands, she will only improve each week as she finds her feet in Aussie Rules.

Chloe Dalton
Stats: 10 disposals, four marks
From the coach: A talented athlete, Chloe played her first game for the Blues. A solid first-game performance, Chloe managed to find herself in some good spots throughout the game. With more game time and development within the team structures, Chloe will be an important player for the Blues.

Bailey Schultz
Stats: 19 disposals, 10 handballs
From the coach: A young developing player who worked herself into the game. Her relentless attack at the football through the midfield gave us drive and momentum in the second half of the game.

Caitlin Williams
Stats: 6 disposals, 4 kicks
From the coach: Still finding her feet in a different position and playing in Victoria (Caitlin is from SA), Cat has been a great asset to the Blues. She will improve each week as she consolidates her position within the team.
