HEAD of Football Andrew McKay says Carlton won’t shy away from its poor start against Fremantle at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues were held goalless in the opening half to face a 70-point deficit at the main break.

Despite outscoring Fremantle by 13 points after half-time, McKay said Carlton wouldn’t gloss over its first half.

“We’ll be showing it (first half) – there’s no about that,” McKay told SEN 1116 on Sunday.

“I’m actually looking forward to it (review), and I think the players are too, because if you can front that and work out the ‘whys’ then hopefully you can get rid of them or get a quicker response the next time, rather than waiting until half-time.”

McKay said the players were quick to take ownership of their performances.

“The players take full responsibility. They were super disappointed in how they performed in that first half in particular,” he said.

“They are open to discussion. They don’t want to hide away from it. They want to come out on the front foot and say, ‘righto, how the hell did this happen’?”

The Blues will look to bounce back when they face Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday, with the clash between the old foes to mark the 26th annual Peter Mac Cup.
