CARLTON'S acting skipper Patrick Cripps has received the maximum number of votes from opposing coaches for his performance against Collingwod on Sunday.

With 29 disposals, match-highs in contested possessions (20) and tackles (nine), an equal match-high three goals as well as three contested marks, it was no surprise Blues coach Brendon Bolton and his counterpart Nathan Buckley were impressed with the 23-year-old’s performance.

Cripps holds the record for having 20-plus contested possessions the most times in a player’s first 72 career games. He has done this on 13 occasions, with the next best tally being six (Tom Liberatore, Josh Kennedy and Clayton Oliver).

Cripps was among three other players – Shaun Higgins (North Melbourne), Liam Shiels (Hawthorn) and Adam Saad (Essendon) – to receive maximum votes in Round 14.

It is the third time this season the contested beast has received a perfect score in the Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award. He sits in second place on the leaderboard after Round 14 with 56 votes - three behind Fremantle's Nat Fyfe.
