Highlights | Vescio's bag of 9 Carlton's Darcy Vescio put on a masterclass against Essendon's VFLW team, kicking an incredible nine goals in a virtuoso performance.

IN its final game of the 2018 VFLW home and away season, Carlton thrashed arch-rivals Essendon by 75 points at Windy Hill on Saturday afternoon.

In a match-winning performance, elusive small forward Darcy Vescio booted nine goals, while the Club’s first father-daughter prospect Abbie McKay played a terrific debut game.

VFLW senior coach Shannon McFerran assesses the performance of every AFLW-listed player from the weekend’s match.

Georgia Gee
Stats:
17 disposals, 12 tackles
From the coach: Georgia was fantastic on Saturday afternoon. In the last game of the season she was instrumental in the middle and her work around stoppages was relentless – laying a number of important tackles. She linked in well with the other midfielders and was able to set up a number of Darcy Vescio goals inside 50.

Tilly Lucas-Rodd
Stats: 14 disposals, 13 kicks
From the coach: This was
Tilly’s best game of the season. She had a huge impact across the half forward line. She consistently found the football and linked up well with the midfield and the forward line. Her ability to get to the contest and bring the ball inside 50 was great to see.

Gab Pound
Stats: 25 disposals, 18 kicks
From the coach: Putting in another consistent performance,
Gab made a really positive contribution to the midfield and worked hard defensively. Her ability to read the football and hit a target has been extremely important to the team. Her work across half back was once again invaluable to the team’s victory.

Darcy Vescio
Stats: 9 goals, 18 disposals
From the coach:
This was a truly best-on-ground effort from Darcy, kicking nine goals and also providing a number of goal assists. Darcy led down forward right from the start and it was these leads, coupled with her contested marks, that made her unstoppable. With a fantastic feed coming in from the midfield, she was able to showcase her agility and balance around the goals. It was a great way for Darcy to finish the season, getting reward for her hard work and patience this year.
