Carlton’s AFLW side is intent and focused on rebounding in 2019 as they return for pre-season, according to Sarah Hosking.

The Blues enjoyed their first two sessions of pre-season this week, with all hands on deck under the eyes of coach Daniel Harford.

Hosking is one of six Carlton players who has featured in all 14 games across the two seasons, and she can’t wait to get stuck in for AFLW 3.0.

“We’ve been back for two sessions and it’s good to see all the girls,” Hosking said.

“We’ve got some new girls, they’re looking fit after the off-season and it’s exciting to have us all back in one place.”

The upcoming AFLW season took shape with the announcement of the fixture at the end of October.

With the Blues to take on North Melbourne first up, Hosking said all eyes were on attacking the home-and-away season from the outset.

“We didn’t have the success we wanted to, but we’ve reviewed that and the girls are ready to crack in really hard,” she said.

“We’re going to focus on our game plan, make sure we’re ready for Round 1, put in the hard yards and work together to form something special for next year.”

Eleven new faces have made their way to Ikon Park over the off-season, through a mixture of trade and draft.

Hosking said there was a fresh dynamic around the group and she was looking forward to getting stuck in with her new teammates.

“We got a few really young girls straight out of TAC Cup, like Madison Prespakis who was our third pick and girls like Emerson Woods,” she said.

“We’ve also got Rhi Watt as well as Kirby Bentley from Fremantle — it’s a good range and a good group coming together. It’s exciting to see what they’re going to do.”

With this week officially marking the first of pre-season, new senior coach Daniel Harford has taken the reins. According to Hosking, it hasn’t taken long for him to get involved.

“‘Harf’ is a good one. He has been really good for the group and we’re really excited to work with him,” she said.

“He went through the two-kilometre time trial with us so it’s good to see that what he puts us through, he can get through as well.”
