Carlton has officially lodged paperwork to nominate Ben Silvagni as a potential father-son selection ahead of tomorrow’s AFL draft.

While it doesn’t guarantee Silvagni will be a Blue, it means Carlton will get first access to the youngster and decide whether to match a bid over the course of the two-day draft.

Should the Blues select Ben, he will be Carlton’s first father-son selection since his brother Jack was taken in the 2015 draft.

Silvagni started his 2018 developing his game for the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup, and played three games for Vic Metro in the under-18 championships. However, a thumb injury brought about a premature end to his season.

Starting out as a forward, he showed an ability to be versatile and play a role in defence.

The 2018 NAB AFL Draft begins on Thursday 22 November at Marvel Stadium. For the first time, the draft will be held across two days.
