Jarrad Waite has spoken of his excitement and anticipation in returning to the field for the first time in more than nine months, when he lines up for Carlton in this weekend’s NAB Challenge match against West Coast at Leaderville Oval in Perth.
Waite will be joined by Marc Murphy who will also return from injury for the Blues.
It will be Waite’s first appearance since undergoing reconstructive surgery, having damaged his knee against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in Round 9 last year.
“I’m, really looking forward to it...I’m definitely ready to start playing again,” Waite told carltonfc.com.au’s CFC TV.
Waite confirmed that he will play half a game this weekend, with increased game time the following week.
“I am just going to play a half, runaround, get a bit of match fitness; I don’t think there are too many expectations on my performance.”
Saturday’s game will also see Marc Murphy complete his return from injury. Murphy underwent hip surgery in early January and resumed in the past couple of weeks.
With the season opener against Richmond at the MCG on the night of Thursday, March 25, Waite and Murphy will gain valuable game time in both week 3 & 4 of the NAB Challenge.
