i find it hard to believe as a club we would bother even attemping this exercise,it just further proves supporting the club through this time was like being caught in a train wreck that was happening in slow motion,you knew you were going to get hurt,it was only a matter of how much.

In all seriousness, the Carlton Football Club of the 1990's is not reminiscent of the CFC that I know. Far too many issues plagued our great club over this decade & it would be an insult to the brilliance of the likes of Kernahan, Vallance, Johnston et al to even contemplate listing a 'best of' in the 90s. Surely we should be looking to put that decade behind us, not list any team of the decade & move forward to the next generation. I'm in my mid 30's & I want no reminder of the Dark Days of the 90's.

I wish we'd had that team for the whole decade!

To Marc Murphy I have followed your football closely you are truely one of the greats. By the time you retire everyone will realise that. On a sad note just like the time you did your shoulder I wish you all the very best with your hip operation and a speedy recovery. Carlton is just not the same with you out of the side. I love the blues but you just add a special touch, you are a champion player and a great bloke. Thanks for your stand out games I will never forget you.

Not many over 35's here I see, in other words folks that grew up with Blues success and arrogance and no tollerance for failure. To even publish a team of the decade in which we tarnished our glorious history is shamefall. Apart from the Jumper I cant think of any of Carltons cultural pillars that remain from the succesfull 90 odd years preceeding that horrible decade. This article just rubs it into the fans faces. Let's take some positives out of this guys. After clearly the worst on-field decade in our history (as that team regrettably reminds us), we have:

* More than 40,000 members

* Outstanding average attendance

* A quality emerging list

* An amazing new training complex

Sure, there's plenty of improvement on-field to go. But I suspect that if many other clubs had to ensure such horrible results for almost 10 years (aided by crippling draft exclusions that NO other club has had for breaching the salary cap) they would have folded or merged. This list would most likely include Fremantle, St Kilda, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Port Power, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs. They simply would not have been able to hang on. That's why, when we win #17, yes #17, it will taste all the sweeter.

Get this crap off and stop embarrassing some of the players who busted their arse for the club. Poor Kouta had to play games with "a mattress" strapped to his leg (remember!) because of how terrible our list had become . And Andrew McKay was a star during the "dark years. Time to let it go and control the "rock stars" that we have, or just trade them like FEV. The club creates the environment so therefore the clubs personnel is responsible for the decade just gone.

This team wouldnt get within ten goals of the team that won the 1995 flag. As a team of the decade it stinks and Im looking forward to the current team erasing the memories of a horrible period for the club.

I think this team shows how bad the last 10 years have been.

A hard task, especially with the 50 game qualification. It just shows that they were dark times, Teague and Pup (Hulme) out for Jordon Russell and Chief Wiggins with Setanta slipping in. With no real ruckman during that period, barnarby tried hard but was outclassed, this is where Setanta could slip in. The Bolt - Glen Manton could find himself unlucky missing out. Lets hope the next selection is hard still only because of the class of players coming through. Enough said for this period of time, though 2010 hasn't started well....a tough first set of games (3 without Judd) and the first 7 games we play against 6 sides that finished in the eight. This should see where the Blues stand after round 7.

This reminds me of my junior days when all the boys got a trophy for participating. Rewarding MEDIOCRITY, we are not Richmond or Collingwood, this is not what Carlton is about. Lets wait until we have real success before we start picking star teams. Only about 2 or 3 of these guys are genuine legends of the club, befitting the status of similar players in The Team of the Century. Please remove this rubbish and allow some credability to return back into this club.

Take out French and Betts and put in Allan and Freeborn. French and Betts are serviceable players but Allan and Freeborn always gave it everything, even if they weren't the most natural players.

i have been a carlton supporter my whole life , and in 25 years i have watched our dream go thrught some great a hard times, now i cant belive that barneby frech made that team, over the like of so many players that missed out. reall have a look at that team and tell me that not anyone could put togethera greater side. can i also add ever since the fevola insedent whwt the hell has happed down at the blues . we had aamazing year an eveything looked like we were back to the carlton of old , and now it all seems like it is going back to the problem days. Sticks why would u ban the boys from the club and distrupte the teams preperation. grow up and take control of the club properly, the team comes first remember and it seems like we dont care about winning games. we better make the finals or atleast ddo well.

The starting 18 are actually not too bad. But the interchange really falls off with the exception of Fraser Brown who should have been starting. Barnaby French was underrated and we have no back up ruckman.

This just goes to show you what a terrible decade it was on field! Some of these players are at the beginning of their careers and still there is none better (eg. Carazzo, Simpson, Gibbs, Betts and Murphy). Not to mention Barnaby French in the ruck, what a joke! Sad times, but better times ahead let's hope!

To leave out Walker I think isn't a true reflection of his talent. We've judged him much harsher than any other player who's played for our club. He's had a rough start to this year already, but I reckon the kid is going to start to pay back the supporters who believe in him.
