2017 Collingwood best-and-fairest winner Nicola Stevens became the first-ever player to be traded in AFLW history, joining Carlton in an exchange of draft picks.

The key defender enjoyed a stellar inaugural AFLW season, earning a spot in the AFLW All-Australian team.

With an average of 9.6 disposals and a total of 23 marks and 22 tackles, the 24-year-old is set to bolster the Blues’ defensive structure in 2018.

“Nicola has established herself as one of the most elite players in the competition, so we’re very pleased to have her join Carlton,” senior coach Damien Keeping said.

“She reads the flight of the ball exceptionally well and marks in contested and uncontested situations.

“Nicola is someone who we feel will add to the culture of the Club both on and off the field.”
