Carlton has selected five players who have not previously played for the Blues in the 29-man squad for Saturday’s NAB Cup match against Sydney.

Brock McLean and Lachie Henderson are two of the new players, both joining Carlton during the Trade Period at the end of the 2009 season. McLean joined the Blues from Melbourne where he played 94 games between 2004 and 2009 after being the number five selection in the 2003 National Draft. The Blues recruited McLean in a trade with Melbourne for selection 11 in last year’s National Draft.

Henderson was also a first round draft selection, number eight in the 2007 National Draft and he played 15 games for Brisbane after making his debut in 2008.

Robbie Warnock who joined Carlton at the end of the 2008 season is also in line to play his first game for the Blues after being restricted to a handful of games with the Bullants in 2009 due to injuries. Warnock joined Carlton from Fremantle during the Trade Period in 2008.

They have been joined in the squad by two teenagers, who were drafted to Carlton via last year’s National Draft. Kane Lucas was Carlton’s first round selection, number 12 overall, and was recruited from East Fremantle. Kane is 18 years of age and will wear the number 24 guernsey at Carlton.

Marcus Davies from North Hobart and the Tasmania Under 18 side is the other young player to be selected in the squad. Marcus was Carlton’s third round selection, number 43 overall in last year’s National Draft. Marcus is 18 years of age and will wear the number 31 guernsey for Carlton.

The Blues will play Sydney at Blacktown on Saturday evening, February 20th, with the game being televised on Network Ten.
