“WHAT are you most looking forward to as Carlton coach?”

It was the question posed by Andy Maher to new AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss on the night of the 2021 John Nicholls Medal.

It’s certainly been a whirlwind for Voss, who since moving from South Australia in the hope of earning the job has been tasked with filling an all-new assistant coaching panel and forming relationships with the playing group.

Making no secret of the work required over the upcoming pre-season, Voss’ thoughts immediately  turned to the fanbase which he hasn’t had the opportunity of meeting yet.

The chance to play in front of a capacity crowd come March next year and prove their wares was something which Voss couldn’t resist mentioning.

“I’m looking forward to that first moment where we get to play in front of our fans again and our members,” Voss said.

“We’ve got a large volume of work to get to in the next little while and there’s a fair bit of stuff that we’ve got to work on. The only way we’re going to be able to earn respect is by the work we put in.

“We’re all really looking forward to playing in front of our members and for them to be really proud of the way that we play.

‘We are so damn determined to ensure that when they watch us play, it’s something they’ll be talking about all week and something they’ll all be proud of. In the meantime, we’ve got to get to work and we have to get uncomfortable.”
