Marcus Davies will become the 1128th player to represent the Carlton Football Club in the AFL when he makes his debut in Friday night’s match against Essendon at the MCG.

Davies joined the Blues from North Hobart via the Tasmania Under 18s with the Blues 3rd round selection, number 43 overall, in last year’s NAB AFL National Draft. He is 188cm and 84kg and turned 19 earlier this year.

He will wear the number 31 guernsey for Carlton the number worn in 100 or more games for Carlton by Tom Alvin, Charlie McInnes and Ernest ‘Ansell’ Clarke.

Davies becomes the 6th player to make his Carlton debut in 2010 and the third to make his AFL debut. Lachie Henderson, Brock McLean and Rob Warnock all made their Carlton debut in round one against Richmond, all having previously played at another AFL club. Kane Lucas made his AFL debut in round 3 against Essendon and Simon White made his AFL debut the following week against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
